I.I.   -What’s your source of creativity?
A.M.-The beginning of the design is the effort to conceive the project from the perspective of its future user (functionality) combined with the particularities of the position (field, orientation, environmental conditions etc.). After that the project gets to the subconscious and starts to grow. The development of the project takes relaxation and time. It progresses step-by-step while connecting to stimuli, in every chance. At some point you feel it’s time to pass from your mind to your fingers. That’s the most delightful moment of the creating process.

I.I.   -Which and when was your first professional contact with stainless steel?
A.M.-A small scale project, but extremely successful, was the reconstruction of a private residence’s fireplace for aesthetic and functional purposes. This project gave me the chance to use stainless steel at a level of handicraft (created by your company back in 2012)

I.I.   - Based on which criteria do you choose stainless steel for your projects?
A.M.-I’d choose stainless steel for its timelessness and natural durability of stainless steel, meaning not to need any further process. A material at its natural form… for ever…

I.I.   -Which is your favorite project and why does it stand out?
A.M.-Sad but at the same time deeply sentimental; the modulation of the stone-grave of a teenager, where stainless steel was used in order to show the Pure, the Untouchable in his short trip to this World… (1995)

I.I.   -Do you believe that stainless steel will continue exist in future projects?
A.M.-Probably in an increasing rate, especially while/if its cost decreases…

I.I.   - What would you advice a new architect that would like to use stainless steel in his projects?
A.M.-The virtues of this material are pretty much obvious and known to most of us. Before anyone starts designing with stainless steel, it would be wise if he visited your production unit and get educated on the particularities of the construction, the whims of stainless steel and its differences from common steel when it comes to cutting, preserving and -mostly- to assembling( welding, threading etc.). It would be very useful to get informed on laser-cut as well, which gives us incredible potentials for a customized creation.

I.I.   -Tell us a few words about your cooperation with Ieronimakis Inox:
A.M.-Working with Ieronimakis Inox in levels of project study and construction for small and medium size projects, has always been perfect in all stages (study, details and tips, construction and installation). Impressive yet sadly rare for Greece, the experienced personnel (technical and administrative), the advanced machinerie and the ISO standard procedures. But what hits me the most and makes this company stand out is that Ieronimakis Inox team has always a more personal, human and friendly approach of their partners and clients and it is never strictly professional. There is always time for a joke, a Cretan memory or even a tsikoudia!
